Review on Hydor Line External Aquarium Heater by Michelle Pierce

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Fantastic heating until the t-stat lights up.

Update! February 2, 2013 3 out of 5 stars. In less than a year this thing had a stuck thermostat! Luckily I read other reviews and fitted a high temp emergency thermostat on day one. Last month this limit switch saved my fish and turned off the heat at 82 degrees Fahrenheit. I now run this Hydor through an aftermarket thermostat; heats well, but their analog thermostat is bullshit. Rated 5 out of 5 stars on February 8, 2012. Really quick review: easy installation, aquarium temp is exactly what I want, fantastic product! Full Review: I bought this heater because my 72 gallon bow aquarium has a really hard time staying at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. In my aquarium, a Cascade 700 external filter with a flow accelerator at the outlet ensures a slow flow. So I bought this heater. . . It was easy to install and fit my 5/8" ID hose perfectly. The only tool you need for installation is a pair of scissors. Just cut the cord, glue and you're done. It's been working for several days now. and it's a fantastic heater!Love it!This ETH 300 was meant to be the booster for my existing 300w Fluval E immersion heater... However this Fluval heater rod is so pathetic that it now carries the entire heater.load.i think the problem with the Fluval E-300 was my sluggish flow.Immersion heaters require a healthy amount of power to work properly and that's the beauty of this Hydor ETH 300. Since it sits right in the pipe it takes care of that Necessary water movement. : No additional circulation pumps required. Overall I am very satisfied with this wonderful product!
