Fantastic heating until the t-stat lights up.

Update! February 2, 2013 3 out of 5 stars. In less than a year this thing had a stuck thermostat! Luckily I read other reviews and fitted a high temp emergency thermostat on day one. Last month this limit switch saved my fish and turned off the heat at 82 degrees Fahrenheit. I now run this Hydor through an aftermarket thermostat; heats well, but their analog thermostat is bullshit. Rated 5 out of 5 stars on February 8, 2012. Mixed feelings about fish and aquatic life

This heater was purchased for use with a Fluval 305 canister filter in a 45 gallon public pentagram aquarium. The old glass tube heater's thermostat didn't seem to work anymore (probably because I lowered the water level a bit) and I came across this built-in model while looking for a replacement. First, the heater is a lot bigger than I expected. INLINE HYDOR HEATER and Eheim Classic 2215

Chose Hydor because I wanted to get as much ugly gear out of my tank as possible. I've read reviews here and on many fish forums about the pros and cons of the device. Some have reported problems and just as many have said they are durable and very reliable. Connecting to the pipe that takes the filtered water back to the aquarium is a very simple process.
