Everyone loves Kester solder so I decided to give it a try. It's a good solder, there's no denying that, but it's not the best solder I've used. Loctite Multicore is slightly better and leaves a much shinier finish. After examining both solders at multiple joints under a microscope, Kester had thousands of tiny pits that weren't visible to the naked eye, while Loctite had far fewer pits and was shiny under the microscope, while Kester did not. Comparing knuckles side by side while Kester is shiny and you never know unless you see it next to Loctite, Loctite was a lot shinier than Kester. Aside from trying, I needed .015 solder and couldn't find Loctite with a 1lb spool at Revain so I settled on Kester. It's still great solder, but not the best.
