Bought this for my new 10ft kayak. This covers it, but there is additional material. I figured with the extra material I could tighten the bottom straps to cover more of the bottom and also make them tighter. Well, someone really stupid designed the straps. First, they are difficult to tighten because there is no strap to tighten them. This is a sewn loop. You can see in one of the photos that the buckle is the furthest away, directly across from the fabric. I can't tighten it anymore and it needs to get tighter. Especially if you're using a TERRIBLE top riser. The upper strap is constructed in the same way as the lower straps. And no need for an adjustable top strap. 80% of the strap cannot be adjusted as the buckles will not close if you tighten it more than 20%. So stupid! As for lifting the kayak from this strap, I was very concerned about it. I tried it and heard a slight crack. It's completely useless in my opinion. Under no circumstances can you use it as shown in the pictures. I would give it one star but it really covers my kayak and at least protects it a bit. And it was pretty cheap. My recommendation: get better coverage if you want, or don't cover at all.
