DO NOT BUY THIS - you will regret it

Let me describe this iron in one word: SHIT. This is the fifth Rowenta steam station I have owned since 2015. The previous models were the two models before this one (one white/blue and one white/purple). On average, they lasted about 18 months before they started constantly spitting brown water on their clothes and ironing board. This is despite regular cleaning of the soleplate, use of tap water, as strongly recommended in the Rowenta user manual, and regular descaling and tank cleaning. With the last previous model, bought in November 2019, we decided to try only distilled water right from the start. We thought maybe the tap water was the problem, although Rowenta says to only use tap water. Well, in the first week of April it wasn't brown water, it was black water and a new feature. black fluff. This fluff gets dirty immediately before you can remove it from the fabric. It has been serviced in the same manner as the previous units, with the only difference being that only store-bought distilled water was used. After about a week of trying to repeatedly clean it and piles of ruined fabric, I decided to order a new one and this is a new model. This arrived early to mid April and we immediately went back to mains water as management advised. We immediately noticed that this model has serious design problems. People have been begging for an auto-off feature for years, and Rowenta has added it to this model. Unfortunately they think it should shut down within 5 minutes. You may forget to step aside to change your laundry, if you do this the iron will start to turn off and need to be restarted. If you do a lot of small sewing jobs that require ironing-sewing-ironing-sewing, you might as well use a different iron because you have to wait longer between each step for it to heat up again. manual button that stops vaping as soon as you release the button. This makes sense and seems like a safe way to craft a vaping device. This model appears to be electronic and has a mind of its own. If you press the steam button once and then one or more times too quickly, the iron will go into a steam pump cycle in quick, small pulses that lasts a while compared to the number. once you pull the trigger. Click it 3 times too fast you can get a 5 second blitz, click it 8 times and you can get a 27 second blitz. There's no way to stop it once it starts, you just have to stand and hold the iron until it stops, trying not to put too much pressure on your clothes, yourself, or anything else that might get in the way of the iron steam This appears to be a major security issue that completely negates the addition of the ultra-fast auto-shutoff feature. And finally mud. Like previous models, this one regularly spits out brown liquid and brown fluff (hooray!) everywhere. I don't mean that he "spits". I mean it's OVER. Oddly, this isn't black water/lint like the previous case that just ran with distilled water. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. It has no real template. The only way to ensure you get brown residue is to run the iron at a temperature below MAX. Anything below the highest temperature and there is a 95% chance you will get brown water/lint. But even with MAX, the chances are 50/50 overnight. So today is July 1st 2020 and this iron lasted from April 15th to June 27th before brown water/lint set in, which is by far the shortest time from unboxing to mud of any previous model I've had. . For the past three days, no matter what I've done to clean it other than max temp setting, it's been brown sludge the whole time. and I'm putting it somewhere around $1500. BTW, that's about the same amount I spent on all those Rowenta steam stations. So Rowenta. never again. There are very few companies that make tank steam irons, but it's time to try one of the others. This is the last Rowenta I will own.
