This thing gets stuck in the threads and breaks into a few small pieces. So if you ever unscrew the attached hardware, it's almost impossible to remove it properly. If you then screw everything back together, perhaps with new tape on the easier-to-clean male end, all the tiny bits will be pushed out of the much harder-to-clean female end, contaminating the gas line and potentially damaging any equipment connected. or at best clog the filter. I had a propane distribution system that consisted of multiple tees and such, and when I needed to remove a fitting for a change, that fact forced me to disassemble the entire system so I could efficiently pull all the small parts out of the fittings. . How painful! I didn't want to do it again so it ended up in the trash and I ended up using liquid PTFE thread sealant which works MUCH better. Now not only do I not have to worry about gas line contamination, but the liquid sealant helps lubricate the fittings making it possible/easier to tighten them further. Search YouTube for a PTFE tape and liquid comparison to make sure others agree before you buy this!
