The Preciva depth gauge is just one step away from perfection. For the price of a Mocca Latte, I now have a well-made, accurate depth gauge that I can use to check my tire's tread wear before taking it to the mechanic. I used to keep my fingers crossed during inspections, hoping that my mechanic wouldn't let me down because of worn tires. Most of the time I was called and told I needed new tires to test. Instead of getting a new kit from Costco where it's cheaper and guaranteed, I would be forced to buy it from a mechanic. No longer. The depth stop is made of high-quality, impact-resistant plastic. It has a large, easy to read display and a metal probe. It even comes with built-in batteries. All in all, this is a quality instrument at a ridiculously low price. Why only imperfect? Well I wish it had a fractional setting like some of the other gauges. In Pennsylvania, 32s are the standard. So I need to convert reading on use. Not a big deal, but it adds a step to an extremely simple process.
