First of all, these shoes are VERY large and I recommend ordering less than you think you need. Second, when I turned the shoe inside out, I saw that the outsole was sewn on where it protrudes into the interior of the shoe. On the sole of the shoe there are small rubber elements that look like persistent dots. It's actually part of the fabric. The shoes are sewn with part of the upper fabric inside, and where the fabric is cut these little dots have a jagged edge. This rubs against the child's leg and is so stiff that even if the child puts on a sock it can still rub and create an uncomfortable spot. I will return the shoes and try again because I like the little slippers. Hopefully not every pair is made like this!
