Review on Seachem Purigen 100 ml Aquarium Fish Tank Filter Media - Ultimate Filtration Bag by Lacey Rinehart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best filter additives

Honestly there's only one thing that really bothers me about Purigen and that's the sheer volume of solids that has to be flushed and emptied out of the damn bag before it's done. to get into the filter without small beads/resin chunks spilling out of the stream. In addition, this material perfectly removes organic waste from the tank. It even removes tannins from tanks where driftwood is still seeping into the water! As long as the resin hasn't run out, which is VERY easy to tell by its color, it will continue to absorb all that nasty stuff that all those cute little floating bio-dumpsters keep spewing out. One of my favorite parts is how easy it is to charge! A little bleach to mostly water, a little shaking and a little time and the stuff will look brand new again and ready to do the same great job as the first time. Simple - and I really can't stress this enough - MAKE SURE you give it plenty of time and swish it in water with a dechlorinator after charging. Thank goodness I wasn't mistaken for forgetting this last step, but if you do, that little bit of bleach can wreak havoc on your aquarium dwellers. I'd say a healthy dose of Prime can help with this, but it's best for Prime to work in a jar, cup, or bowl of Purigen before it works back into the filter. :)
