Let me start by saying that this ethernet adapter does exactly what I need it to do: provide gigabit ethernet transfer speeds. My problem: When trying to restore a backup disk image on my Dell Inspiron laptop, I found that my onboard Ethernet NIC was a 100BaseT only device. The Ethernet transfer rate was extremely slow and it took more than 18 hours for the recovery process to complete. I installed the Startech USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and the transfer speed has improved significantly. Recovery time has been reduced to less than 2 hours. Also, the Startech adapter works flawlessly in the Acronis TrueImage Recovery Environment.
