Review on Tripp Lite 24-Port 1U Rackmount Cat5e Patch Panel - Black, RJ45 Ethernet 568B (N052-024) by Mike Sevenfourgd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good patch panel. Works as advertised.

Works great. I bought it to install in my Leviton media box but after reading some reviews I decided to mount it over the box and route the cable into the box. After installation, there were concerns that the Cat5 connectors would stick out too far to close the media cabinet door. Once installed I think if you gently bend the Cat5 to fit it will fit. Can't say exactly because I didn't do it. Love the fact that you can flip the panel to reveal the back to penetrate incoming Cat5. As you add cables over time it will become more difficult to flip the panel as the Cat5 patch cords are connected on the other side. You can always disconnect and reconnect the connection cables, but if you work while others in the house are watching TV, surfing the Internet, etc., they will be disconnected. Just a matter of planning, not the panel. This works as advertised. If you're doing this at home on a budget, you can always use an electrical box, power strip faceplate, and keystone jacks to create your own patch panel. I did this in my upstairs closet as it was difficult to run multiple Cat5 cables upstairs. I ran 1 wire for the power source, connected it to a 4-port wireless bridge/access point, and then ran 3 wires to other upstairs rooms from the keystone jacks I installed in the wall. That serves my purpose well. However, I really like the patch panel.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
