My kids have been making things out of thermoplastic for a few years now. It's a great material: easy to shape (just heat in hot water, reheat to shape) and durable. After you've melted it and cooled it so it's comfortable to the touch, you'll have a few minutes to shape it by hand. If you don't like the result, you can simply melt down and redo your creation. This brand is indistinguishable from others we have used in the past. At $8 for 8 ounces, it's a little cheaper than other brands for a similar amount. Larger quantities tend to be cheaper per ounce. This would be a good place to start if you are unsure if it suits your needs.
