Review on Kaytee First Home Habitat 12 Inch by Roxana Kotarba

Bought this for a Syrian hamster I will be buying next month and I have to say I'm impressed! It is very large compared to other hamster cages! I see it's a bit small for rats, but for hummi it's perfect! Setup was very easy, only took about 10 minutes. I struggled the most with getting the ramp. However, I think I'll remove the ramp and the extra level because they take up so much space! There's barely enough room for a balance bike, toys, food bowl (the bowl that comes with it is too big) etc. and room for the little guy to run around. So I invested in a smaller second tier to replace it. All in all it's great for the price! UPDATE: I've had my hamster for a few months now and he's generally fine, there's room for 2 shelters and an 8.5" steering wheel. But that's it, it's NOT a chew guard, she managed to gnaw off the plastic base and chip some paint off the wires. Chewing IS a sign of boredom for hamsters, so the solution is to add more toys/boredom barriers. However, there is not enough space here to add anything else without overloading the cage. So if you can afford more, I recommend this.
