Bought to brew lager in an old fridge at a consistently low temp and so far so good. Yeast loves 56 degrees, so I set the unit to 55 - with a 2 degree tolerance, it turns on at 57 degrees and off after cooling to 55 degrees. Using a second digital thermometer, I checked the accuracy of the readings to within 0.2 degrees. I then attached the probe to the side of the brew bucket with bubble wrap to isolate it from the surrounding air. not adjustable - the manual says it's not recommended for use with compressors, which is a bit silly as it's designed specifically for refrigeration - if you're using it with an old fridge, be aware that the compressors are normally on when they turn on will have a 2-3 peak times the rated power consumption stated on the labels. This controller has a maximum output of 8-9 amps and a built-in (non-replaceable) fuse. So if you overload it, it will burn out. I would do a little research and make sure the electrical load of the fridge you are plugging in is adequate.
