Review on ๐Ÿถ RuffWeather Pet Door Extra Large: Perfect Solution for Your Big Four-Pawed Buddies! by Amber Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great quality, good guides, and an amazing user base to help you!

later We installed this dog door through drywall and plasterboard about 6 inches thick. Installation required the use of a wall tunnel kit, also manufactured by Ideal, and this kit contains materials that can be used to install in a much thicker wall. The door, as some point out in their review, takes some getting used to, it took our dogs, who are quite old fashioned, about 5 hours to figure it out. The older dog who has hip problems had some trouble getting through the double doors but is getting used to it now. I'm going to tape a piece of industrial carpet between the two doors to see if that helps as she doesn't seem to want to step on the plastic tunnel in the wall. I floated the 2x4 tunnel floor over the wall insulation. I can go back if the tunnel gets unstable and place a longer 2x4 that attaches to wall studs instead of just floating and bolting to the drywall. Rather, this is to ensure that the wall insulation does not move into the tunnel due to changes in air pressure. We installed a door on the north wall of a home in the East Phoenix Valley. In front of this door we had a door for our sliding glass patio door, which always seemed to be a source of hot or cold air in the extreme temperatures in the Phoenix area. I hope this door will prove to be more efficient and convenient for the whole family. Although most of the door is plastic, the screws go into the metal hardware set into the plastic door frame. I found the 7 inch diamond tipped blade worked very well for my circular saw and since I didn't have to cut a large patch of plaster I didn't use water cooling. I would suggest good safety goggles in addition to eye protection when cutting through a wall because you never know what you might crash into. I happened to cut right next to the nail that was used to attach the stucco wire mesh to the wall. If I had hit the nail on the head I could have injured myself as I was working in my regular clothes, flip flops, shorts and a t-shirt. In hindsight, I should have at least worn shoes and pants to ward off some of the material that might have blown out of the wall. I also asked a few questions about installing the door and to my surprise got answers! And good answers so that this door is endorsed not only by the manufacturer but also by other users of the product which is great! Something I think could be used in all products, knowledgeable people answering questions rather than "I don't know, ask the seller" answers that really should be removed.
