I have a souvenir cabinet that is probably over 15 years old and I've recently started setting a timer to turn it on and off at certain times of the day. After a few months, 2 out of 4 light bulbs burned out in it, so I decided to finally switch to LEDs. The souvenir cabinet has a built in dimmer button to turn it on and off, but it will not dim when all 4 LED lights are in use. With 3 LEDs and one of the good bulbs it works and dims. This is not the fault of the lamp manufacturer, you must ensure that your dimmer/device is LED compatible. Most dimmer switches have a minimum wattage rating, so in my case based on the age of the gift cabinet the dimmer knob/switch was most likely not designed for LEDs as they draw less power than older incandescent bulbs. Adding a lightbulb to the mix will help increase power consumption and keep it going. Without looking directly at the light, it's hard to tell the switch isn't an LED. I'm fine with this setup with an incandescent bulb in the mix so I'll keep an eye on the lifespan of the LEDs and hope they get years out of them.
