First, if you have the right U-piece, it's good for you. It's not easy and there's a lot of conflicting information out there, at least for older Ford trucks, but I had a similar problem trying to help someone else. There is a lot of information out there that is just plain wrong. In any case, I had to file the clips a bit to get them to fit perfectly. not bad, and the Spicer version, at least the one I had, was stiffer. On a 1988 F150 4x4 this goes to the rear driveshaft in the transfer case. It differs from the rear driveshaft on the rear axle (which is the same as the two on the front driveshaft).
