Awesome gimbals

Awesome gimbals. Moog makes a very high quality product and it is well lubricated. No difficult installation, especially with a press. Just be careful with the driveshaft yolk as the belts can go oval and not hold the U-joint tight.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

In stock for too long

This is Moog and probably the best known brand for quality. In this case I have no reason to believe it is fake. But there was rust on the cups. Not enough to disrupt installation and they'll rust in place, but not having a shiny new piece is a little disappointing.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • There are nuances

Gotta Love Moog for Universal Joints

Replaced the rear drive shaft u-joint with this after mine broke down on my '98 Ford Ranger. I finally got around to swapping mine out, and as soon as I pulled out the old, rusty, frozen hinge, this thing went in like butter. I forgot how smooth driving becomes when you actually have good parts.

Tight Fit on Tacoma

Installed on Tacoma 07 4X4 DCLB to replace the universal joint I removed to get to the main bearing. I previously installed a Spicer 5-1330X and had no mechanical issues, but the case rusted. The Moog looks and feels like a heavy hitter. The only problem is that when the locking rings were installed, the caps were very tight. I had to rock it back and forth a little to make it relax a little. When I get them back I'll grind end caps 0.25mm or so. Most likely I'll focus on Spicer crosses next…

1988 F150 4x4. Tight but not as tight as Spicer

First, if you have the right U-piece, it's good for you. It's not easy and there's a lot of conflicting information out there, at least for older Ford trucks, but I had a similar problem trying to help someone else. There is a lot of information out there that is just plain wrong. In any case, I had to file the clips a bit to get them to fit perfectly. not bad, and the Spicer version, at least the one I had, was stiffer. On a 1988 F150 4x4 this goes to the rear driveshaft in the transfer case…

Not like before.

Always bought Moog for suspension, ball joints and cross members. I bought one of these from Auto Zone and installed it on the back of the driveshaft. At the time I didn't want to replace one without the other, so I ordered one from Revain for the front and installed it in the front. or so. I thought maybe it was my fault for not re-lubricating it. In any case. 4 months later I'm driving 80 on the Interstate and the entire front half of my driveshaft fell off and ended up on the road. It…
