If you can't find a suitable place to mount the boom vertically, it's practically useless. In addition, the size of the screw clamp makes it difficult to mount in hard-to-reach places. I ended up dropping the arm and just dragging the sonar on a string next to the boat. Unfortunately, if I ever get to use my hand, I'll have to quickly build a mounting surface for it. I can see how this can work in certain situations, but I didn't expect how inflexible it would be. I think it's good in concept but not in its current design/execution.
