. Polished Pipe Inlet Kit hoping to improve gas mileage but increased only slightly

I purchased a K&N 77-1566KP Polished Pipe Inlet Kit hoping to improve gas mileage and have only a slight increase was observed. However, my jeep accelerates much better. Installation was easy, but it required a little ingenuity. I cut about three inches off the factory crankcase breather hose, which fits the crankcase pipe much better than the one sold with the intake kit. I put some glue on the end of the hose from the kit, put it in the cut piece of hose and clamped it in place. Then I attached the hose to the crankcase pipe using the larger end of the stock hose that was cut and attached to the kit hose. I then attached and clamped the other end of the kit hose to the intake pipe where it should go. On the filter cover I reversed the screws with an Allen key. The screws come out of the protruding brackets of the housing. I used thread lock and lock washers to hold them in place. So I put the filter cover on the screws coming out of the housing and fasten them with wing nuts. This allows me to reach the filter manually without using an allen wrench. After assembly, I drove my 2015 2-door 6-speed Wrangler and enjoyed the sound and performance. I wanted better mileage but more power at a slight increase in mileage was worth buying the kit. I'm not worried about water getting into the motor as I won't be driving in deep water.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented
