Review on ๐Ÿ“ธ Epson ES-50 Portable Sheets Document Scanner for PC and Mac - Workforce Edition by Todd Look

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very intuitive and works great

This Epson Workforce ES-50 sheet-feed portable document scanner is great! I followed the Start Here instructions, charged the device, downloaded the drivers, connected the scanner to my Microsoft Surface Pro and was ready to scan. I've never had such an easy installation and first use like this one. The ES-50 can only be used by connecting directly to a computer using the supplied USB cable. Other models, 50W and 60W, have more features like wireless transmission and mobile device scanning. He scanned the email that came with the product in just under 5 seconds. It immediately appeared with multiple options like rotation, additional scan, delete and view size. There are 4 main categories under Settings: 1. Scanner Settings: Scan options include resolution, document size, contrast, text enhancement, background removal and more. Device options include counter, sleep timer, cleaning, calibration check. 2. Action Settings: Provides multiple sending options including Email Attachment, Google Drive, Evernote, and Dropbox. Save As options include Print, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 3. Filename Settings: Like any Office document. 4. Saving Options: PDF and JPEG, each with additional options. - This can be disabled. I was primarily interested in the quality/readability of documents that were not printed. I was trying to scan a 4" x 6" photo, but the paper is too thick for it to feed through properly. He snaps to the left and the rest scrolls. I've tried various ways to "help" it but none of them work. I scanned a note written in blue ink on yellow paper (see photo) and it went through perfectly. Receipt (see photo) I sent in Word (pdf). On the scan preview screen, the printed part was perfectly clear. The odometer reading I printed above went pretty well, although they interpreted 115,904 as 115,961. I also write down the miles and miles per gallon and then put them in parentheses - that part was gibberish. However, as you can see from the two photos, it went pretty well, although I wrote the mileage information on my foot just as I was about to rush off the pump. Since I drive my car for business, scanning each receipt is helpful for my weekly expenses, accounting, and taxes. I scanned a handwritten card and saved it to Dropbox (jpeg). It performed better than most scanned handwritten documents I've seen. Perfectly readable, although it was pure gibberish when viewed on the scan preview screen. Lesson Learned: The Scan Preview screen may not always be an accurate representation of what the final scan will look like. Over a year ago I had to send my mother to the Memory Nursing Department. As an only child, I have to go through everything, including her mountains of paperwork. At least now I can scan and save files when I find out. No more stacks of boxes and filing cabinets in the basement. Also, the OCR feature will make my life much easier.
