Review on Avantree DG60 Long Range Bluetooth 5.0 USB Adapter: Superior Sound Wireless Dongle for PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Linux - aptX Low Latency, Headphones & Speakers Compatible by Dawn Wilkinson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Does not support apxt HD audio as stated on product packaging.

This USB interface only supports 16-bit audio. I have several USB devices that solve this problem with vendor AISO drivers or similar software. This solution has been around for many years and is expected for PC-based USB sound cards. If you can't support 48kHz sample rate and 24-bit depth from your source PC, then (according to the Avantree website) you can't claim aptX HD compatibility. Period!. What happens between the dongle and the headphones, or in my case FIIO BTR5, doesn't matter. It seems to me that the decision would have preceded the release of the product and the box that says "Superior aptX HD Sound". Additionally, there's a switch on the device itself to enable the power of the Qualcomm HD codec, which it can't provide due to the imperfect USB interface (what's the maximum Bluetooth audio transfer rate for the DG60?). To make matters worse, the device in Windows 10 by default uses the DirectSound API, which is rarely, if ever, used by today's high quality audio devices. I'm not the first customer to bring this issue to the attention of Avantree, and the "we're working on it" excuse seems to be the standard response. When companies deliberately mislead their customers about a product's capabilities, it calls into question the performance claims of their products and the integrity of the company's business practices. I expected (citing Avantree's own slogan) "For the best experience". MC
