Review on Peugeot Fidji 4 Inch Pepper Natural by Jeremy Lawrence

Mercedes pepper grinder

I have had a smaller grinder for many years and have found it very functional. I didn't see a need for a premium pepper grinder as I figured they all grind pepper right? HOW WRONG I WAS! When it came time to swap out the pepper grinder, I did a little research and was impressed by what premium grinders looked like at gourmet stores. Of all the brands I saw, Peugeot and Williams Bond impressed me the most. Looking at the mechanisms I felt the Peugeot looked and felt more solid than the Williams Bond. I also liked the stepless grind selector that Peugeot has. When using a pepper grinder, the Peugeot feels solid. it never sticks to the pepper like my old one. The cast steel grinder has channels to guide the peppercorns into the grinder. It splits the peppercorns before final grinding. But the important part is what goes down. Finely ground pepper is finer than I have seen in any other grinder, like fine dust. Whatever grind you choose, the pepper is very consistent. My old grinder loosened with frequent use so I had to keep adjusting it but not on my Peugeot, you can go very fine or coarse and that's what you get. I'll get one for my mother.

Pros
  • Ball nut on top for fineness adjustment
Cons
  • String is shorter than other picks
