Original 4 star review The lights were much larger than I expected from the photos. The circles had a diameter of 49 mm. The body width was 68 mm. They were well thought out and relatively easy to install, although fine tuning the position of the magnets and the distance from the light source took some time. I liked the finely serrated shims to clearly direct the light to shine straight ahead and behind. Everything was plastic or thick rubber except for the metal bolts that held the lights to the terminals. Spokes and frames cannot be damaged. If desired, lights and magnets can be transferred from bike to bike. The clamps have a recessed hex to hold the nut, eliminating the need for a wrench. The lights came on when the bike pedals were turned to full speed. I could light them up while driving through an intersection. They were bright at low and normal driving speeds. They were brighter and seemed to be on almost always at 80% when sprinting in top gear. The white light was a lot brighter than the red which was a little disappointing as I think taillights are more important than headlights for bikes slowly moving along the curb. An inexpensive silicone light hook powered by CR2032 batteries is much better. I would not rely solely on these string lights for complete safety and visibility, although the built in reflectors were very clear and bright. White light is no substitute for a bright headlight, since the lower edge of the narrow light cone only illuminates completely dark roads up to the front edge. Need street lights or bright moonlight. I liked the thin and thick washers for precise placement of powerful magnets. When considering external and internal spokes, a fairly flexible adjustment range was available. Flexible rubber clamps hold firmly to the bike frame. I tried splaying the lights with a penny while tightening the clamps, but the magnets were so strong they almost abruptly moved the lights as they passed. Using a larger slit reduced this effect with no noticeable reduction in brightness. I didn't like that I only had four magnets when the packaging said six. The headlights still worked well with two magnets per wheel. I tried using two magnets on adjacent spokes and the flash was just longer, not brighter. I liked the pulse effect when the magnets are 4 spokes apart instead of flashing when they are 180 degrees apart. It was a good product but I'm glad I took advantage of the $20 loyalty program discount instead of paying full price. It will be great to ride without changing batteries. The bike looked great upside down with both lights flashing. It was fun to silently generate my own light during a test drive in cool rainy weather. Both LEDs had a wide viewing angle and were visible through the spokes. However, they weren't very bright when viewed directly from the side. I believe the lights offer an added, potentially life-saving safety and visibility advantage when driving cars in low light conditions. - - - The red LED seemed brighter from an angle. I loosened the small screws holding the reflector and carefully realigned the LED, which was just lying loosely on its wire legs inside. It's fairly easy from a straight back. When delivered, it radiated with a beam of about 5 degrees to the left. There was no rubber O-ring between the reflector and housing, but the fit was snug enough to keep most water out. The review will be updated if there are long-term issues. - - - The rear light stopped working after two days. . It failed after just two trips totaling 34 miles in 235 minutes. The day before was fine. I went for a positive video review the next morning and it didn't catch fire even though it hadn't been touched. The LED board was not installed in the case and would not snap into place. I was able to turn on the LED by touching it to press it against the circuit board, but it immediately stopped working when released. Apparently the circuit only works when the LED is within a tiny fraction of its range of motion. I doubt it will last very long if temporarily brought back to life and subjected to a 3 second vibration on the road. Terrible product! It's hard to believe that a 21st century factory couldn't handle the task of making a spool of wire connected to a single LED. I wish I could review products that last longer than a sales demo! Protective gear for cyclists needs to be durable and reliable. A rough amateur repair with solder got the rear light working again. It seems brighter with more material to complete the scheme. The system has obviously saved solder. Once the reflective cover was in place, pressed against the LED, bending it to the side and unsoldering further back. My one star rating stands as this issue should not have been raised by the buyer. The factory should trim the LED wires by 3mm to avoid the problem and ensure there is enough solder to maintain a strong connection that can withstand life on a shock-prone bike prone to extreme temperature changes. mirrored storefronts at night, and there was an obvious difference in brightness between the dim Ventura headlight and the bright CR2032-powered handlebar light. Whilst the product does not have a battery it is a defective replacement for a fresh battery. - - - Now that the handlebar light batteries are not that fresh after about 10 hours of use the Ventura headlight is noticeably brighter. The soldered taillight works well.
