CONCLUSION There are cheaper speakers that probably sound as good as these from House of Marley but I doubt they look as good as they are made from eco friendly materials are made. If you value these things, this is a good buy. SETTING UP was easy. I turned them on and connected them to "Get Together Duo" on my iPhone connected to the right speaker. The instructions with the icons in the manual are tiny, but I guessed it: hold the Bluetooth button on the left speaker for 2 seconds and it will connect too. Then I was in business. Later I connected to my laptop and it was just as easy. SOUND The sound is generally good (playing FLAC files in VLC). The Marley House sacrificed bass by going for a small cabinet; The woofers could probably deliver more bass in a larger cabinet. The downside is that they're pretty compact and can fit in hard-to-reach places (like on a coat). The midrange is excellent; Piano and voices sound very good. Out of the box the highs sounded a bit harsh, but after a few hours of listening they softened (or I'm used to it!). However, they are good. I could play them pretty loud before they started to distort (either they ran out of amp power or the drivers hit their limit). For example, they are not suitable for a house party, but for a small party they can get quite loud. - Powered and can be used alone as a portable bluetooth speaker. The idea (I think) is to give you two products in one. But that begs the question (for me): Why not just make BOTH battery powered and rechargeable? Then it would be a truly wireless pair of speakers (no speaker wires or power cords). Currently you have to charge the right speaker every (approx.) 20 hours. Is it really that inconvenient to charge them all at the same time? These speakers are made from sustainable (green, recycled and recycled) materials and luckily they look great (my girlfriend was impressed) which justifies the price. Rubber strips on the bottom protect any surface you place it on. Rather than ship speakers with the correct plugs for each country, HOM has chosen to create an "international" package so you end up throwing away six (6) plugs. Equipment accessories that you do not need in your country. It's not that green. I measure them just under 8 inches high, exactly 4 inches deep (not including the RCA connectors) and just over 5 inches wide.
