Seems to pass current but too much resistance or something. Every time a USB device tries to go beyond USB 1.1, the chip fails. As far as I can tell it's designed to carry long current USB and maybe some low speed devices. Any attempt to upgrade to a higher speed (USB 2.0) connection will fail. In short, this DOES NOT WORK with Android Auto or Apple Car Play. However, the mounting hardware was good. I cut the traces on the USB side of the board and essentially ran a wire connection all the way to the connector and everything worked fine. I think they were trying to get parasitic energy to make the port glow and ended up ruining actual USB functionality.
