Review on πŸ“» Texas RW CB Radio Antenna by President Electronics by Donald Manipole

THIS ANTENNA MAKES TEXAS PROUD

This is a large antenna so be prepared to get a strong mount for it. My downside was that I couldn't get it with a PL mount. Apparently they are only sold with a 3/8 mount in North America. Everywhere in the world it is PL. However, there was one bright spot in all of this - I had to choose a new mount, in my case a magnetic mount, so I bought a three magnet tram mount specifically for "Texas" and I'm glad I did. . At 83.5 inches in diameter, there's no way I can rely on my Wilson PL magnetic mount to keep this antenna from moving (and possibly permanently damaging it). It deserves a secure fit and a three-magnet supply. Let's get back to the antenna. As you might expect this antenna picks up my signal and there is no comparison between this and any other sub 60 inch antenna on the market. However, if you already have a Sirio 5000 or 4000, you won't notice much of a difference. I just mentioned both antennas and made a comparison between the three to confirm what I already knew: the difference in length between 4000, 5000 and Texas is not enough to see a real difference on the S-Meter. I am very happy with my purchase and will update this review in the future if something happens to warrant it. So unless you're the type who loves to buy and try out antennas (like me) and you already have a Sirio 4000/5000, there's no real reason to buy this. If you are looking to upgrade your current antenna (e.g. you have a much shorter antenna), look no further and buy one now. Remember that you need a solid foundation for the installation. I almost forgot - the warranty is excellent, and if you buy a "President" antenna with a "President" radio, they (the President) extend the warranty on that radio to 5 years! Now THAT is the deal.

Pros
  • Frequency: 26-28MHz
Cons
  • Volume
