The device worked as stated on the website. I put the lock key in the frame of my trailer and released my trailer's brakes so I could move the boat trailer. The brakes on my boat trailer worked when I tried to reverse the trailer. If you insert a metal device into the impulse brake, the metal device (key) will prevent the brakes from working, allowing you to push or pull your trailer. You can use a metal device to temporarily "turn off" your trailer's brakes. It is not recommended to drive long distances without brakes. I would recommend watching a YouTube video to learn how to use this product. It's easy to use.
