I bought this item to use as a fryer as it indicated one of its uses. Nice wide opening and large frying basket. Great. So far, so good. However, I've used this about 20 times and have never been able to get the oil above 313 degrees, which is barely enough to fry anything. Within 20 seconds of adding almost any type of food, from a handful of chicken nuggets to 2 servings of french fries, the oil temperature drops to 260-280Β°C and then it takes at least 15 minutes to get oil. Back temperature over 300 degrees. So I ordered another deep fryer last week (at least this one heats oil to over 340 and recovers temp quickly after adding food) and the XL kitchen kettle just threw it in the trash for pickup tomorrow. If it could actually heat oil to even 350 degrees it would be a fantastic fryer but I'm sorry it just never got to 320 degrees and then while you're waiting for the temperature to recover to over 300 degrees, just pour too much oil. in fried food.
