I use at least one straw every day, myself and the rest of my family of five. I use one in my morning coffee. This is a habit I've had for many years after reading something that said drinking coffee through a straw is better for your teeth. While I'm not claiming this is actually true, I can tell you that these straws are great. I tried to get on board with stainless steel straws, which I used to jab myself on a regular basis. Then I bought silicone tips for them, but they are very difficult to clean. I have also tried all silicone straws but they are so flexible or wide. And then you have to clean them again. When places like amusement parks, professional sports teams, and cruise lines started banning plastic straws, I thought it was a bit crazy, but paper straws are definitely better for the environment. I tried paper straws. First, they don't work for warm or hot coffee. They also break down on the second cup and I usually drink 3-4 cups. So I went back to plastic straws. But every day I feel bad when I throw it in the bin. I saw these bamboo straws and was wondering if they work better than paper straws. GUYS, THESE BAMBOO STRAWS ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO PLASTIC STRAWS in feel and function. Not only do they not disintegrate in warm or hot coffee, but as a test, I left one of the straws in a cup of water for THREE DAYS! Guess what? Didn't fall apart. It was the same as 3 days before when I put the straw in the water. However, I have not yet tested how well they compost. The bag I ordered has individually wrapped straws. I probably won't need this feature when using it at home, but if you want to store or carry extra items on the center console of the car so your kids aren't scattered everywhere, or you just want to be eco-friendly, then these come in handy. Now I will order these straws and feel a lot less guilty about my daily habit.
