Already in the bin

I received this dutch oven about 10 days ago, read the use and maintenance manual that came with it and cleaned the oven by hand with just water and a soft cloth, no soap or detergent. When I first cooked in it, the inside of the oven was covered with rust and the food turned gray and black flakes appeared inside. As indicated in the instructions, I thought that the oven needed an additional dressing with vegetable oil. I cleaned the oven again with water and a rag, no detergent. Then let it dry and brush it inside and out with olive oil. The next boil brought the same result: rusty innards and dirty food that I had to throw away. My husband searched the internet and found other people with similar problems. Some say the lodge would do better if they didn't season their oven at all, as the seasoning doesn't seem to be of very high quality. In my case it was uneven, peeled off and did not protect against rust. After collecting a few tips on the Internet, my husband spent a whole evening trying to season the oven thicker: he poured several layers of olive oil and continued to bake on the stovetop at medium temperature so that the seasoning stuck. The next boil again gave the same black and rusty result. can't wash up. And the washed stove, after drying on the table, left another rusty circle on the table, which I can't wash off either. After all these extremely frustrating experiences I decided to throw this oven away before it completely destroyed my countertops.
