They seem very strong. It's actually quite difficult to lower the hood. Giving 4 stars because they make an odd noise and feel rough for the last few inches or so before the hood is fully open. Another issue is that the connection points are larger so they rub against the passenger side wiring harness on a 2008 BMW 328i. Excessive opening of the top can wear out the seat belts and cause short circuits. The original frame has more ground clearance. You may need a small piece of styrofoam or thick tape to protect the wires.
