Review on 🐱 Ideal Pet Products Sash Window Pet Door, Adjustable Width 33-38", Cat Flap, 6.25" x 6.25" Flap Size, White, (33SWDCF) by Marcel Robinson

We recently bought a house that was built in the 1950's with a large back yard but no door leading to the back yard. We are renovating the house and plan to convert the window to a door at some point. We took the cats out of the garage to the backyard (they can't jump over the fence as we put a net on it). This got annoying as the cats wanted to come back 15 minutes later and then wanted to come back 15 minutes later. Product installation was easy. I put a futon under the cat door on the inside and made a cat ladder on the outside. I bought tread cutouts from Home Depot and added treads. The project cost about $30 and took about an hour (having a miter saw really speeds things up). It took about a day to shove the cats out the door and lead them up the stairs and back through the door, but the cats figured it out quickly. Now they go in and out as they please. This product has really made our life easier. I have to agree with previous reviews that more insulation is needed; I have noticed that the room where the product is installed is cooler. This is something we will be working on to fix. We will put dowels on both sides of the window above to solve the security problem when someone pushes the window. Overall, however, this product was exactly what we were looking for and the cats loved it. This translates into litter savings as cats now use the litter box outside whenever they need it. We don't have to worry about them going away at night as our fence prevents cats from leaving the backyard (or other cats from getting in). We've always dreamed of a big yard where our cats can play comfortably and now, thanks in part to Ideal Pet Products, we've got it :)
