Lightweight, almost silky, quick-drying material. I'm very picky about shorts and wasn't sure when I opened them but now I can't live without them. They stretch a little and are not transparent. I wear a medium and I would say that's my typical size. I wear size 6 and 8 Lulu leggings with Lulu tennis skirts. I love that there are no pockets and the front is flat so they look clean. I have gray with black stripes and black with white stripes. I wear them: on the beach over a swimsuit, sporty with a ribbed cotton tank top and sneakers, and sometimes with a sleek black tank top tucked into slouchy wedges. I wash them in cold water and hang them to dry. They are amazing!
