I love this item for diagnostic, test and measurement tools

This item is easy to use. So easy, I didn't even read the instructions. I bought a 2002 Cavalier with 100,800 miles on it. In earnest. The check engine light came on. I ordered this, took it out of the box and plugged it into the connector (which is usually under the steering column). I got the codes (car battery powered), pushed a few buttons, they told me it was emissions control. No shocker. The car is 18 years old, driven very little. The hoses have small leaks. So I pushed the button and the check engine light went out. Relax. It also has real-time data. Don't ask me why, but every car I've ever owned (since the 70's) has its odometer going off. It doesn't matter if it's a needle or a number. I use a speedometer to check my speed. The real-time data shows you the RPM, so I checked it against the gauge to see how accurate the tachometer was (for future reference when my speedometer stops working).

Pros
