Good Budget Trainer

First of all, I'm not a professional athlete. I mountain bike a lot in the summer, but I always fall behind in training in the winter. Especially during the pandemic, I needed something to get me moving. I don't want to spend more than $1,000 on an exercise bike that I don't use often, so I decided to give this one a try. I've really liked it so far and decided to leave after closing the returns window. It was packaged very well and installation was a simple task. I calibrated a twist down and started using Zwift. This is my first time using Zwift, so I was shocked at how poor the quality of this software is (but that's another topic not directly related to this review). Anyway, I've been using it with Zwift for a few weeks now and it's been working flawlessly. It's quiet, reliable and works great on my iPad with the optional cadence sensor. I've had no trouble connecting to the trainer for the past few weeks using the cadence sensor and my Apple Watch to measure my heart rate). to buy, so you basically need to buy a cassette with the same number of rims as on the bike and ideally match the brand (I bought mine at REI for $40). Most importantly, get a cassette locking tool too! This tiny nut is needed to tighten the free running cassette. Buy one that also has a chain holder, it should be $20. After that, just get on your bike, start the app and off you go. All in all I would buy this again, just wish it was a little cheaper because it really lacks an interactive element and it just provides resistance and measures force.

Pros
  • Designed for home use, this turbo trainer is much quieter than wheeled bike trainers. With a noise level of only 60 dB, you can use it in homes without noise pollution.
