We bought this to cut our sons hair - we have two boys and taking them to the hairdresser all the time is too expensive! The clipper is relatively quiet for $30, and while our almost 3-year-old doesn't like having his hair trimmed, he doesn't complain that it's too loud. We love that there are so many lengths to choose from. We also purchased the 1.25" and 1.5" guides separately and they work great with this clipper. I also cut my husband's hair with these clippers and they work great! No complaints. I cut off the star because our first clipper broke and some of the small parts inside broke off and didn't hold the clipper head properly. However, we called the company and they sent us a replacement.
