Recently my check engine light came on but went out the next day. I nearly took him to the Chevy dealership both times. My car is out of factory warranty so I took my car to the dealer and it would cost at least $100 for them to check my engine code and tell me what the light is for. So I decided to buy my own code reader because I also bought my daughter a 2010 used car as her first car. It comes with a really nice case which I didn't expect. It has a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with a USB charging cable. It works as soon as you connect it to your machine. The interface is very easy to navigate and easy to start scanning. Everything is fine with my car now. But if not, I'm willing to educate myself about the issue so I can call and ask for a better price for the repair. These should be on all cars!
