Review on AV1 Bifocal Reading Sunglasses: Perfect Eyewear for Pilots and Everyday Activities by Shonda Smykle

The downside of the design of the metal frame.

I currently own three pairs of Dual Eyewear sunglasses, two V8 plastic frames and one AV1 metal frame. The optical clarity is excellent. The hue is perfect and the size of the reading portion doesn't affect distance vision but is well positioned for near and intermediate vision. The styles are trendy and the price is hard to beat when compared to prescription sunglasses. Unfortunately, the design of the AV1 has a construction flaw. The metal temples are only covered with plastic/rubber on the underside where they fit over the ears. When folded for storage, the metal ends of the temples will scratch the inner surface of the lenses. The Dual offers a dedicated storage case, but it's only at the front that it's difficult to protect the outside of the lenses. The back is soft which allows you to push the temples into the lenses and scratch them badly even in your own storage box. Other metal styles also have the same disadvantage. Plastic frames fold the same way but don't dig into nylon lenses. The AV1's silicone nose pads also get lost fairly easily.
