First of all, the manufacturer includes a note that if you leave a 5-star rating, you will receive a $15 discount on your second device. This probably explains the high ratings in the reviews. I used this (luckily) on a laptop provided by my company - MBP 16". After a couple of weeks the USB port I was using stopped working - won't charge, there won't be a reader, etc. Considering it was a used laptop, not sure if it was existing damage or caused by the adapter, what was left in the machine was starting to come loose, apparently just due to the magnetic force of the constant adding and removing another part around to connect properly - and any movement of the laptop itself separately I doubt you would have this problem if you left your laptop on the table and almost never unplugged it, but it's like attaching and removing an external magnetic bit lead to wear and tear on the USB port several times a day . laptop, so a previous user may cause a previous damage h at which I know nothing about personal equipment. Edited to add - the company contacted me and sent me two replacement adapters free of charge, so I'm giving them an extra charge. star for customer service.
