The float is rated for 7 ounces of buoyancy and I used it on vacation with a camera that weighed over 9 ounces and kept the camera on the surface in the ocean. Seawater is more buoyant than freshwater, so your experience may vary. The stitching is strong, I haven't had any problems with them tearing. It was comfortable around my wrist, but if you have very large wrists/hands this may not work. The obvious downside to this product is the thin black thread attached to the black plastic connector. I didn't believe that and used a slightly thicker thin line instead, which I attached to the yellow main loop. Later I read some reviews where people said the string broke. Obviously the line is a weak point so I'm surprised people trust it with an expensive underwater camera when it's pretty easy to just bypass it. If it wasn't for the flimsy string/plastic plug I would have given this one 5 stars. . I hope this review was helpful to you.
