Review on Black Phosphate Square Drive Screws by Larry Boyd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well made, tight fit on square drive bit, easy to use

These 1 5/8 inch trim screws are not available at any of your local hardware stores. The square drive on these is vastly superior to the PH#1 (Phillips) drive. I bought to assemble a 3/4" AC sheet of plywood and 1/2" sides for a portable workbench (Paul's torsion box). The joints are not glued so if damaged or worn the plate can be replaced by removing the screws. Also use the same screws to assemble the bottom and other sides with glue. When drilled with clearance (helps avoid bridging), the small heads of these finishing screws sink well under the finished surface. I recommend these screws for fine work where larger head screws don't look as good.

Pros
  • Corrosion Resistant
Cons
  • Weak
