The colors are great and mix well - I use feathers. As this is my first experience with oil based colored pencils I can definitely say that I have had a positive experience. Some colors are very soft even when applied with multiple layers of pressure. Even if they appear on my homemade pattern sheet, they may not appear very well in the photograph of the sheet I took. WHY I DID NOT GIVE THE PRODUCT 5 STARS: The set really needs to be bigger to offer more colors as red, dark brown, gray and black hair are not feasible; and no colors for very dark African/African American skin.
