The band feels like medium sticky rubber but has teeth that reduce the contact area by up to 20%. This can be useful on some fittings, but on a smooth surface it will slip before you can apply any decent torque to the handle. I was only able to use it successfully after wrapping a flat rubber band around the fitting and then slipping a wrench over it. The strap is riveted to itself to attach it to the wrench handle. Rivets can scratch small diameter fittings. The strap is surprisingly inflexible and uncomfortable to work with, although it feels solid. The handle has a nice weight and feel, the hinge feels solid enough, and the long, textured lip feels good and applies power to the strap. Overall, this tool is not bad, but it is by no means good.
