Review on Optimize Your Filtration with Seachem's The Bag Filter Media Bag by Edith Massey

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Ideal for thin media (especially Purigen). However, the bag can be torn!

After reading the reviews I decided this should be the product. Small fillers like purigen stay in the bag and the water seems to flow through evenly and perfectly. The only problem is that there was a small hole in the corners of the package where the pieces meet! That would be perfectly fine if your wearer is large (like Matrix), but for fine sand like Purigen this is an absolute no go. I opened the sealed pouch it came in, filled the pouch with Purigen and used the zipper. I started rinsing the bag only to find that a quarter of my purigen fell out the side where a small hole was found. This left me disappointed and with a pretty decent mess! I highly recommend inspecting your bag carefully before adding media to avoid the same situation I was left in. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be using either product after this incident as I'm unable to reseal the packaging so I can't comment in more detail on the usability of the product. I am giving the product 2 stars because it is a Seachem product (they make AWESOME products for aquariums) and it does exactly what it is supposed to do but appears to have manufacturing defects.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • something different
