Works well on a good table

Seems to work well! I'm new to leatherworking and decided to go for a cheaper option for my tools. After reading reviews about it, I decided to take a risk. Yes, they were a bit oily when they got here, but that's not at all uncommon with steel tools. For those who say they're stupid from the start: try another cutting platform! I started with my craft table, a lightweight IKEA hollow table with a self-healing mat. I found the skin difficult to break through, so I attempted to sharpen the one I was working on. It still didn't do much. I figured I just didn't know what I was doing when it came to sharpening. Then I moved on to my workbench, a massive wooden animal from a harbor freighter. bam! A hammer blow through and through, no problem. Grabbed one of the non-self-sharpening ones: bam! Through! Soft skin, thin skin, thick hard skin - a good touch on a hard surface would eliminate those semicircles. So. Don't blame the tools for a poor quality work surface!
