I use a Gorillapod with my Panasonic Lumix TZ5 and I assume it will work with all Lumix lines as they have the same standard tripod mount. This device single-handedly changed the way I take photos! I recently went on vacation with my girlfriend and we were able to get such great shots of the two of us in a variety of settings because we were able to take great self-portraits and night shots - all without disturbing other people. takes photos for us all the time! Pros: - Small and portable (compresses about the size of a thick magic pen). It's light and I carry it in my short cargo bag all the time. With flexible legs, you can hold on to anything. And I mean nothing! This allows you to take amazing and creative pictures. I was pleasantly surprised by its ability to grab/hold a variety of surfaces and textures. We hung it on trees, railings, outdoors, on cars, tables, chairs, etc. - Get the shot you want with the "Selfie". How many times have I bored a stranger to take a picture of me so everyone can be in the picture? You don't usually shoot the way you like, and you're lucky if you snap a few shots before you feel like you're looking imposing. With Gorillapod, these problems are a thing of the past! Ideal for night shots or long exposures. Again, this goes for any tripod, but who would lug around a big tripod just to get better night shots? The tripod is made of rubber/plastic. So you can keep it in your pocket or purse without fear of scratching something else inside. Cons: - The neck has some issues holding the weight of my camera in a fixed position. The mount attaches to the side of my Lumix camera. Because of this, the tripod neck sometimes collapses under the weight of the camera in certain positions, especially in situations where the camera is already slightly tilted relative to the tripod legs. So far I've usually been able to position the camera in a way that solved this problem. If your mount is in the middle of the camera base, this probably isn't a big issue. I can only imagine that this will be an even bigger problem with heavy DSLRs. -------------- ----------- ------ --- What that Concerning tripod with the bottle cap, it is also very helpful. It's actually not a tripod, it's a mount. Pros: - You can install it on different bottles. Soda, beer, and water bottles all work, and this works with both threaded and unthreaded bottles. Basically anything with a small mouth. It's helpful to mount it on a liquid bottle for extra stability. - The base twists and turns so you can find the right angle for your shot. - Smaller and more compact than the Gorillapod. Not much more than two capsules together. Ideal for night shots (especially at night in a restaurant where there should be a lot of bottles and a stable mount is required if you don't use a flash). Cons: Can only be used on flat surfaces (unlike the flexibility of the Gorillapod) and obviously requires a bottle. So I would buy a Gorillapod without hesitation. As for the bottle cap, I don't think it's necessary if you're carrying a Gorillapod. It's definitely useful though, and small enough that you can toss it in your bag and forget about it until you need it. So if the price is acceptable, take both!
