Playing pizza is a huge hit in our house. My kids got Osmos for Christmas and loved it so much they decided to spend their Christmas money on other games. My 7 year old daughter got this game but her 8 year old brother also plays it. Basically it's pizza toppings, money and a circle that serves as a pizza and exchange switch. You run a pizzeria and your customers come and order. They do this in a variety of ways. They can show a smiley face next to one type of topping to show they like that type and frown next to another because they don't like it. Sometimes it shows certain toppings go in certain parts of the pizza, and other times they put their order in a "word problem." You can say things like "I only eat fish" or "I only like vegetables". In the game settings you can choose hint types, add timers etc. So now you have your order and you can start making pizza. The system recognizes the inserted rubbers and their placement and displays this on the screen. The reaction of the customer shows whether he is satisfied with his order. You then have to physically move the pizza to "put it in the oven". After waiting for a few customers, a gray circle will appear telling you that you have customers waiting for the checkout. You just turn the pizza to the gray side and the screen will show customers waiting to be paid. They put their money on the counter and you have to add the amount they gave you. It says the price of their pizza and you need to change something. To do this, take the coins from your tray and place them on the gray circle. If you are correct, you will hear the sound of a cash register. These are popup numbers that will help you after a while if you get stuck. Again, you can go to your settings to choose the difficulty level. I believe you can only select the denominations or types of coins you wish to trade. At the end of the working day, a window will appear showing how much you have earned in a day. I really like that it shows you how much you made from the pizza and adds your tips and then subtracts your expenses. The costs for the ingredients used and the delivery service are at your own expense. This gives them a daily profit. Their winnings go into their piggy bank and they can use the money to decorate their shop or upgrade their ovens and appliances. This game is a great learning tool. This is a game, so have fun while working on important skills. They learn to follow certain instructions, work on their math skills, etc. I love that you can adjust the difficulty of all of this to suit your needs. Literally the only claim I have on the currency. This set includes quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies, 10s, 5s, 2s and 1s. 2 dollar bills? Serious? Why? It would be much more useful if they stuck to a single currency. I should also add that this includes a storage case and all the game items fit nicely inside. Overall I'm happy with the game and they really like it. I hope they plan to offer replacement parts because I see that over time the "pizza" wears out from all the flipping.
