Good for the Price, but You Deserve Better

I bought one of these Pyramid woofers to replace the blown woofer in my BMW Z3 Roadster. After 9 years the poly on the standard woofer became brittle and fell apart. Thought for $18 I'd give it a try. In fact, I bought both this and the $12 pyramid woofer just to see which I like better. First the pros. This woofer is solidly built and has a fairly heavy magnet. - the seat box on the Z. It coped well with most music, but once you pushed it a little it really showed why it's an $18 Chinese speaker. on a rather loud, this particular. Acker struggled with the strong bass notes, clapping and flapping instead of hitting. I was forced to turn down the bass, volume, or both if I didn't want to endure this issue. Today I replaced the Pyramid with a Kicker CVT65 flat speaker and I am very satisfied. He does everything the Pyramid couldn't, and he does it with grace and precision. For just $40 more, the Kicker is a much, much better woofer. The bottom line is this is NOT a great woofer. Not even close. However, if you're not asking a lot from a woofer, at just $18 you really can't beat it. If your tastes lean more towards Disturbed than Talk Radio, you should avoid that and look for something better suited to the task.
