I had a situation where I needed to distinguish cans of the same item at a glance, so I looked for colored lids. Unfortunately, every variant I found contained an equal number of both regular and wide mouth caps. Why? I can't be the only person with only one size glasses. Most people have preferences and stick to them, so for canning they only need to buy one size lids. In order to get 8 lids in the size I wanted, I also had to buy 8 lids that I don't even need, which doesn't make sense to me. I was expecting these lids to be exactly the same as the white lids I buy at Walmart minus the colors. However, they are made of a different plastic and do not quite fit together. The silicone rings help prevent leakage when the jar is shaken, but the lids themselves don't screw on as well as white plastic lids or metal rings. They go ahead and meet my needs. I just need to know what to do with 8 lids that I will never need.
